Mechanical Anchors

The mechanical tubing anchor is designed to prevent the stretch movement of the tubing during the well's pumping cycle. This increases pump efficiency and decreases rod, tubing, and casing wear. There are two sets of teeth on each slip of the anchor; one set faces upward, the other faces downward. The double-gripping action of the slips allow the tool to be set with greater tension. The mechanical anchor is operated by turning the anchor to the left, which rotates the slips out into the casing. The anchor is then released by turning to the right.

To learn how to set the proper amount of tension on your tubing anchor, follow Black Gold Pump & Supply's simple chart to calculate how many inches of stretch to put into your tubing. The conditions of the well will be considered when using the chart.
