Black Gold Pump & Supply’s Barrel Length Plunger Pump is designed to improve pump efficiency and run times in the presence of sand, scale, and/or trash. The plunger assembly is designed to keep sand in suspension and to prevent sand from settling between the plunger and barrel. 

The plunger is wiped clean after every down stroke, mitigating the possibility of a stuck pump. Traveling and standing valve cages have a double valve to increase the potential run life of the pump.

  • How does the Barrel Length Plunger Pump work? 

    Barrel length plunger pump is designed to improve efficiency, increase production, and allow you to pump the maximum amount of solids/trash out of your pump. The plunger is designed to keep sand suspended in the tubing and prevent solids from falling back down into your barrel and plunger assembly. The plunger is slightly longer than the barrel itself and is wiped clean after every down stroke mitigating the possibility of a stuck and/or sanded up pump. Traveling valve and standing valve cages are double valve to allow for maximum solid handling and highest pump efficiency rates.

  • Does the Barrel Length Plunger Pump come in both insert and tubing pump options? 

    Yes they do! We will customise the pumps in accordance to your well requirements in both insert and tubing options. 

  • Do I need any special tools and connections to deploy the pump downhole? 

    None needed. The Barrel Lengh Plunger Pump install and deploys downhole like any other API 11AX rod pumps. 

  • Can I run a RW, RX, Or TX Barrel Length Plunger Pump?

    No, the pump cannot be a ID threaded pump the plunger must be able to be longer than the barrel itself. With a ID thread the configuration will not work.

  • How to do you determine how long to make the plunger?

    Any amount length that is longer than your current barrel. Example if you have a 24’ barrel you can run a plunger that is longer than a 24’, as long as the plunger assembly sticks out of the barrel, the Black Gold barrel length plunger pump will work properly. If any debut please contact Black Gold Pump and Supply to explain or design your set up.

  • Will you see an increase of friction with the plunger being so long?

    Yes there is a chance there could be some extra friction but our sales person takes your down hole information and runs out all the numbers to ensure the plunger fit is set up correctly for your wells application.

  • Are there limitations on pump size or length of pumps?

    No the barrel length plunger pump is designed for all RH and TH pump styles and designed for the max unit strokes of up to 366”.

  • How do I know how to space the well out properly so the pump works to its highest efficiency?

    Black Gold sales person will send you a design diagram or down hole design document explaining the proper space out process to maximum pump efficiency.
